Suicide Prevention Pathways (SPP) is a not-for-profit community association based in Brisbane, working to support people at risk of suicide.
As we do not receive government funding we rely solely on the generosity of individuals in the community for donations to enable us to continue our work. With your financial support we can continue to help people at risk of suicide and their families.
These much needed funds enable us to provide a unique support service entirely focused on the individual to coordinate care, attention and emotional support for people at risk of suicide, and for those who are concerned for someone at risk.

Volunteering
What is involved in being a volunteer for SPP?
Our volunteer roles can vary from client support to social media, we are always looking for people that have a passion for helping others.
Do I need to have experience?
Previous experience is not always required to become a volunteer with SPP dependent on the area you wish to support us with plus training is provided to help increase your knowledge and skills in the area of suicide prevention.
What are the time commitments?
You can volunteer from as little as one hour per week. We are looking for individuals that are able to commit to volunteering for a minimum period of 6 months.
What’s in it for me?
Benefits of Volunteering include expanding your skills and experience and increasing your employability. If you are undertaking study, volunteering can help to give you real world experience and context to your field of study. Most importantly, by volunteering your time and skills, you are helping to enable SPP to continue working with those at risk of suicide and their families.

Youth Advisory Group
What is Youth Talk Suicide Advisory Group?
Youth Talk Suicide Advisory Group is a collection of young individuals who can bring unique knowledge, skills and ideas to complement the organisation, Community Actions for the Prevention of Suicide (SPP) Inc. on how we can work with young people more effectively.
Do I need to have experience?
Previous experience is not required to join YTSAG however you do need to be aged between 15 and 25 years’ old
What does the role involve?
- Participating in regular YTSAG meetings
- Keeping well informed of youth issues
- Building and maintaining relationships with a range of local youth networks
- Providing essential insight and knowledge into the issues affecting young people
What are the time commitments?
- Monthly meetings to discuss matters relating to the Youth Talk Suicide Project
- Be willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months with the group
- There will be an expectation that you participate regularly in discussions, activities and projects
What’s in it for me?
- Be a voice for young people and represent your peers
- Meet like-minded people that share a passion for youth wellbeing
- Receive training in suicide awareness and prevention
Do I get paid for this role?
This is an unpaid volunteer role however refreshments will be provided at each face to face monthly meeting.

Location: New Farm Neighbourhood Centre

Fundraising
Whether you are an organisation, school, community group or individual, there are many different ways you can fundraise to enable SPP to continue providing support to those at risk of suicide.

Do you like to compete in sporting events?
You could raise much needed funds for SPP by simply doing what you love whether it be competing in the Gold Coast Marathon or the Noosa Triathlon.

Workplace Giving
Workplace Giving
With just a small pre-tax donation from your pay, you can help us continue on making a difference to the lives of those at risk of suicide.
Workplace giving is a program that lets employees donate money on a regular basis to charities that are a registered deductible gift recipient (DGR) which means that donations to the charity are deductible for taxation purposes.
Workplace Gving operates under a pre-tax system, which results in an automatic tax deduction for employees, without the need for staff to keep and claim receipts. There is no tax payable on the amount employees forego, and no liability for fringe benefits tax.

Once established, Workplace Giving provides your business with a rewarding, low cost and low maintenance way to support those at risk of suicide. Workplace Giving can be easily managed through your normal payroll system with no tax forms to fill out. What’s more, if your company decides to match donations made by your employees, it significantly increases the impact the Workplace Giving has for those at risk.
